APFC panel

An Automatic Power Factor Correction (APFC) panel is an electrical assembly designed to automatically improve and maintain the power factor of an electrical system close to unity (1.0). It continuously monitors the load and switches capacitor banks in or out automatically using a power factor controller relay, compensating for the reactive power drawn by inductive loads such as motors, transformers, and welding machines. By maintaining a high power factor, APFC panels help reduce electricity bills, avoid utility penalties, minimise system losses, and improve the overall efficiency of the electrical installation.
